Leadership Experience & Accomplishments

2019-2021

2022-2023

2023-Current

Registration & Patient Access Leadership

My leadership journey began in Registration in 2019, where I learned the foundation of patient access: accuracy, communication, and consistency. I progressed from clerk to coordinator and eventually supervised registration across multiple facilities. This early experience shaped how I lead - steady, clear and focused on removing barriers for patients and staff.

Roles and responsiblities:

  • Managed registration workflows across multiple facilities

  • Ensured accurate demographic and insurance verification

  • Trained and coached frontline staff

  • Strengthen communication between registration, clinical teams, and patient access

Leadership Skills Developed:

  • Operational Leadership

  • Coaching and staff development

  • Workflow improvement

  • Patient-centered communication

Lessons Learned

Starting at the front desk taught me that leadership begins with service. Every interaction sets the tone for the patient's entire experience, and small improvements in communication can change the entire patient journey.

Patient Access Advisor

In 2021, I transitioned into the Patient Access Advisor role, helping patients who are underinsured, uninsured, or needing additional insurance assistance. This role sharpened my understanding of the patient needs and taught me how to advocate for patients while supporting staff in real time.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Provided self pay estimates for surgical and outpatient procedures for patients who would not be using insurance due to various reasons

  • Screen uninsured inpatients for Medicaid and complete application to obtain insurance when eligible

  • Worked closely with case management to identify Teri patients and complete disability applications for when needed

  • Completed DHS Medicaid application for patients needing long term or skilled nursing care

  • Reduced confusion through consistent communication

  • Provided real-time support to schedulers and registration staff

Leadership Skills Developed:

  • Patient advocacy

  • Conflict resolution

  • Clear, calm communication

Lessons Learned:

This role taught me how to balance empathy with efficiency. Patients who are admitted through the emergency department without insurance are often overwhelmed, and leadership means helping them feel empowered, informed, and supported.

Patient Access Supervisor - Central Scheduling, Outpatient Insurance Authorization, Patient Access Advisors & Community Health Workers

Since early 2023, I have served as a supervisor over Central Scheduling and Patient Access Advisors. In October 2025, my team expanded to include Outpatient Insurance Verification for a more streamlined pre-access process. In July 2026, my team expanded to include a Community Health Worker, based on a TSET grand from the Oklahoma Hospital Authority (OHA). This role and expansion has grown to include frontline operations through system-level coordination.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Supervising schedulers, authorization staff, patient advisors, and CHWs

  • Managing authorizing and scheduling diagnostic imaging and sleep lab workflows

  • Overseeing insurance authorization processes and payer requirements

  • Ensuring accurate prep instructions and patient communication

  • Supporting CHWs who address social determinants of health and community needs

Leadership Skills Developed:

  • Cross-department coordination

  • Workflow optimization

  • Accountability and follow-through

  • Community-based leadership

  • Cultural awareness and advocacy

Lessons Learned:

  • Supervising both clinical-adjacent teams and community health workers deepened my understanding of healthcare beyond the hospital walls. Leadership must be relational, culturally aware, and grounded in real community needs.
